GOTTA QUESTION FOR YOU PREACHER

I'm just a simple old man. Some things are hard for me to understand. Please explain something to me real simple like.

My understanding is that preachers preach because they want to take the Gospel to a lost and dying world. Now that is a very noble thing to do. May God bless you for doing it.

But what I do not understand is how gathering a group of Christians (Already "saved" people.) around you and preaching to them is taking the Gospel to a lost and dying world. Then doing it again and again and again adinfinitum.

Any clarification you can offer me on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.
An old man.

Good question! I'll be pondering it for a long while, I can assure you.

I'm wondering if we sheep don't have some responsibility too? Certainly our shepherds need to expand their reach to ensure the Gospel is shared with the lost (Billy Graham comes to mind), but I'm thinking the whole Body of Christ bears, or ought to bear the same burden.

I just know that when I share the Good News with people (not nearly often enough), a natural & secondary discussion involves the importance of getting connected to the Lord's body (be it church, or a fellowship).

Now I'm off to grab my dictionary to look up: "adinfinitum".

Blessings,
Kathleen

Ohhh this is a question that NEEDS to be asked everywhere!
A neighborhood pastor went door to door a couple of weeks ago. When the pastor came to our home we were invited to a $7 a plate, swiss-steak dinner at the church. My husband and I shared with this pastor that we would love to sink our roots into a church that cares more about its community and literally goes out to minister to the people in their neighborhood. We said we were looking for a church that expects to see their neighbors get saved, delivered, and set free by the Jesus they carry to them. A church that cares more about people than it does about gathering in the same building 3 times a week and taking money to pay for new carpet, chairs, electronics ...
Sadly, the pastor shook our hands and said, "Yeah, well there is a church up the road that does do a bit of that." Needless to say, we didn't eat their swiss=steak.

Hello my friend. I believe that the preacher should reach a lost a dying world but as a body we must bring in the lost & dying to be preached to. Everything is not on the preachers shoulders; it is on ours also. He is not able to do it alone. We all should have our part in reaching souls. That is what the body is all about. Also, a preacher is there to help God's people get back on track and to strengthen us. One other thing, a preacher should be our example re righteous living and reaching souls. I am thankful for my pastor who does all those things and more. Last night Bro Mark taught a great lesson about the body. Unfortunately, it isn't up yet so I can't give you the link. Will email it to you on a later date.

Spiritual blessings.
