TODAY'S PROMISE

"See how much the Father has loved us!
His love is so great that we are called God's children
- and so, in fact, we are.  This is why the world does not
know us; it has not known God.  My dear friends,
we are now God's children,  but it is not yet clear
what we shall become.  but we know that when Christ
appears, we shall be like him, because we shall
see him as he really is.  Everyone who has this hope
in Christ keeps himself pure,
just as Christ is pure."

FRUSTRATED WITH OUR NATION?

"The LORD frustrates the purposes of the nations;
he keeps them from carrying out their plans.
But his plans endure forever;
his purposes last eternally.
Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD;
happy are the people he has chosen for his own!"
(Psalms 33:10 - 12 TEV)

TODAY'S PROMISE

"Righteous Father!
The world does not know you,
but I know you
and these know that you sent me.
I made you known to them,
and I will continue to do so,
in order that the love you have for me
may be in them,
and so that I also may be in them."

FINALLY GETTING SMART

"LORD, I have given up my pride
and turned away from my arrogance.
I am not concerned with great matters
or with subjects too difficult for me.
Instead, I am content and at peace.
As a child lies quietly in its mother's arms
so my heart is quiet within me."
(Psalms 131:1-2 TEV)

WRECKED BY ATTITUDE

Several thousand years ago, even before your were born,
there was a king in Judea named Amaziah.  Now Amaziah
was unique in this respect:

"He did what was pleasing to the LORD,
but did it reluctantly."
(2 Chronicles 25:2 TEV)

His attitude in serving God was just like your attitude,
and my attitude, about speed limits.  If we observe them at
all, IT IS RELUCTANTLY.

That is the way Amaziah served God.  Just because he had to.
Not because he wanted to. And if you will read his life's story
you will see this got him into a lot of trouble and he was
eventually assassinated.  He was wrecked, totaled out.

In contrast, there later came another king with another
funny name, "Hezekiah".   Hezekiah reigned over the same
nation that Amaziah did, for the same length of time.
But his attitude was different.

"King Hezekiah did what was right and what was
pleasing to the LORD his God.  He was successful,
because everything he did for the Temple or in
observance of the Law, he did in a spirit of complete
loyalty and devotion to his God."
(2 Chronicles 31:20-21 TEV)

Hezekiah, "Succeeded in everything he did,..."
(Chapter 32:30)

Hezekiah had a reign of prosperity and success because
of his love for God.

Yes, just like you and me, Hezekiah messed up some,
but he had a life that was blessed by God because of
his devotion to God.

Is life going like you want?
Check your devotion to God.

TODAY'S PROMISE

"No, in all these things we have complete victory
through him who loved us!  For I am certain
that nothing can separate us from his love;
neither death nor life, neither angels nor other
heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present
nor the future, neither the world above nor the
world below - there is nothing in all creation that
will ever be able to separate us from the love of
God which is ours through Christ Jesus our
Lord."
(Romans 8:37-39 GNT)

LEARNING FROM MOLLY

No.  This is not Molly.  This is a critter I found in the back yard
that was willing to have her picture taken. Molly is the neighbor's
dog.  Molly lives across the road.  And, Molly is about the most
friendly and lovable dog I have ever met.  In fact, Molly is entirely
toooo friendly.  Molly truly wants to live up here on our porch.
Also, Molly needs a bath really, really, really bad.

That is why my wife and daughter keep trying to run Molly
off.  She stinks up the porch and it's chairs.  But you know as
well as I, that all the yelling at Molly, and all the gestures
made to Molly - mean nothing.

My wife and daughter do not understand that all the talk and
gesturing do not make sense to a dog.  A dog is just like us.
They have ears to hear with.  Also a dog has eyes to see with.
But that is only so many facts stored in their pea brain.  Again,
just like us.

What people do not understand is that the "wisdom applicator"
needs to be activated so the dog understands what all the noise
is about.  Again, just like us. [The "wisdom applicator" is that
module in us that takes the facts stored in our hard drive - pea
brain - and computes the facts allowing us to respond properly
to the facts.]

So, in Molly's case, I activated her "wisdom applicator".  That
explains why these are not Molly's pictures.

Just like in us, the "wisdom applicator" sensors are located just
ahead of the tail, above the legs.  Another thing that people do
not understand is that these sensors are activated by a sudden
impulse or jolt. Just like the crash sensors in your car,  you have to
bang on them hard to make them activate the "wisdom applicator"

Now in Molly's case, this was easy.  The soft end of a broom
only had to be applied to her "wisdom applicator" sensors about
twice.  Molly is a very smart
dog.

Hey!  That's the same way God tries to get our attention.

"My child, pay attention when the LORD corrects you,
and do not be discouraged when he rebukes you.
Because the LORD corrects everyone he loves,
and punishes everyone he accepts as a child."
(Hebrews 12:5-6 TEV)

"Those who spare the rod hate their children,
but those who love them are diligent to
discipline them."
(Proverbs 13:24 NRSV)

CORRECT US LORD

"LORD, I know that none of us are in charge of our own
destiny; none of us have control over our own life.
Correct your people, LORD,
but do not be too hard on us
or punish us when you are angry;
that would be the end of us.

ARE YOU LISTENING?

Several comments made by K.P. Yohannan
speaks volumes to me.  I trust they will be of
help to you also.

"Silence is the loudest prayer we can offer,
because in silence the Holy Spirit reveals
Christ's current burdens to us.  We then
respond back to Him - sometimes without
even fully understanding the prayers we
pray."

"For a world that is waiting to hear of Christ's
love, God is saying to us, 'I am looking for
someone to be still, to be silent.'  He is looking
for someone who will try to find out what
He is saying."

TODAY'S PROMISE

"I ask God from the wealth of
his glory to give you power
through his Spirit to be strong in
your inner selves, and I pray
that Christ will make his home in
your hearts through faith.  I pray
that you may have your roots and
foundation in love, so that you,
together with all God's people,
may have the power to understand
how broad and long, how high
and deep, is Christ's love.
Yes, may you come to know his
love - although it can never be
fully known - and so be completely
filled with the very nature of God.
To him who means of his
power working in us is able to do
so much more than we can ever
ask for, or even think of: to God
be the glory in the church and in
Christ Jesus for all time, forever
and ever! Amen."
(Ephesians 3:16-21GNT)

WHEN THE MOUTH DOSN'T STOP

Smith Wigglesworth that great apostle of faith, which
was a household name several generations ago, and who
God use to perform many a phenomenal miracle,
offers this insight.

"When is prophecy spoiled?
When you go on speaking after you are finished.

When is prayer spoiled?
When you begin in the spirit,
but then when you have finished,
still go on in the flesh.

When is preaching spoiled?
When you go on after you are finished."

p.102

Smith Wigglesworth Remembered
by
W. Hacking

You and I both have sit in many a church service that
would have been a far greater blessing if this advice
had been followed.

LIFE

"LORD, how long will I live?
When will I die?
Tell me how soon my life will end.
How short you have made my life!
In your sight my lifetime seems nothing.
Indeed every living being is no more
than a puff of wind,
no more than a shadow
All we do is for nothing;
we gather wealth,
but don't know who will get it
What, then, can I hope for, LORD?
I put my hope in you."
(Psalms 39:4-7 GNT)

TODAY'S PROMISE

"I love you just as the Father loves me;
remain in my love.  If you obey my commands,
you will remain in my love, just as I have
obeyed my Father's commands and remain
in his love.

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you
and that your joy may be complete.
My commandment is this;
love one another, just as I love you."
