ARTHUR KEITH AND EVOLUTION

"Evolution is unproved and improvable.
We believe it only because the only
 alternative is special creation,
 and that is unthinkable."
At least he is honest in his unbelief.

TODAY'S PROMISE

"Now listen!  Today I am giving you a choice
between life and death, between prosperity
and disaster.  For I command you this day to
love the LORD your God and to keep his com-
mands, decrees, and regulations by walking in
his ways.  If you do this, you will live and multi-
ply, and the LORD your God will bless you and
the land you are about to enter and occupy."
(Deuteronomy 30:15,16 NLT)

MY GOD REIGNS

MY GOD REIGNS.

If you keep up with the news, and who does not,
you know that in all appearances the world is in
total chaos.  And it is.  The world appears to be
on the verge of self destruction.  And it is.

In fact Jesus Christ himself told us these days were
coming on this old world.  And His apostles told us
these days were coming as did the prophets of old.
God has been trying to tell us these days were
coming for several thousand years.  But few pay
any attention.

Does that mean that things are out of God's control?
Of course not.  It is all part of his master plan.  God
permits this evil time to come on the world to
accomplish his will and purpose.

The Scripture below does not necessarily apply to
today.  But it seems so fitting when we see the
entire world trying to kick God out of his own
creation.

"Why are the nations so angry?
Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
The kings of the earth prepare for battle;
the rulers plot together against the LORD.
and against his anointed one.
'Let us break their chains.' they cry,
'and free ourselves from slavery to God.'
But the one who rules in heaven laughs.
The Lord scoffs at them."
(Psalms 2:1-4 NLT)

I like that.  God laughs at the foolishness of
the nations.  Another place it says;

"Has the LORD ever needed anyone's advice?
Does he need instruction about what is good?
Did someone teach him what is right
or show him the path of justice?
No, for all the nations of the world
are but a drop in the bucket.
They are nothing more
than dust on the scales.
He picks up the whole earth
as though it were a grain of sand."
(Isaiah 40:14,15 NLT)

I find great comfort in knowing that the entire
world is still under God's control.  My God reigns.

William Temple
Archbishop of Canterbury
once said in his sermon:

"While we deliberate, He reigns.
While we decide wisely, He reigns.
While we decide foolishly, He reigns.
While we serve Him humbly, loyally, He reigns.
When we serve Him self-assertively, He reigns.
When we rebel and seek to withhold our service, He reigns."

Yes, my God reigns.
NOTHING can come agains me with out His consent.
I can bring my every care to God because He reigns
and is concerned about my welfare as a child of his.

TODAY'S QUOTE

"The prevailing idea seems to be, that I come to God
and ask Him for something that I want, and that I
expect Him to give me that which I have asked.  But
this is a most dishonoring and degrading concept-
ion.  The popular belief reduces God to a servant,
our servant: doing our bidding, performing our
pleasure, granting our desires.  No, prayer is a com-
ing to god, telling Him my need, committing my
way unto the Lord, and leaving Him to deal with it
as seemeth Him best."

testing and temptation.  Afterward they will

HEALING

HEALING.

I have just had some very minor surgery done.
And, like you would do, each time I clean and
dress the wound check to see how the healing
is coming.

Then I began to think about the healing process.
Even the doctor, as smart as he is, cannot make
it heal.  He can only assist in the healing process.
And, in my ignorance I cannot make it heal.  I can
only try to keep from hindering the healing process.

Then where does the healing come from?

Lets go back to the very start.  Modern man wants
me to think that somehow by pure chance something
came from nothing.  You know, nothing became
something.  Then some how over eons of time the
something some how [Again, by pure chance.] acquired
life.  Call it a life force if you choose.  And then this
life developed some how into the universe that we
now know.  And, some where along the line developed
a healing process so it could continue to live without
dying off as it had in the past.

Come on now.  I am not very smart.  But even I am
smarter than that.  There is a designer or creator
behind every thing we develop in this life.  And
there is a creator behind the development of this
universe, and you and me.  God, whether we like
it or not.

And God, the source of life it's self is the source
of any and all healing that takes place in my
body and yours.

TODAY'S QUOTE

"Jesus lived His life in complete dependence upon
God, as we all ought to live our lives.  But such
dependence does not destroy human personality.
Man is never so fully and so truly personal as when
he is living in complete dependence upon God.  This
is how personality comes into its own.  This is
humanity at its most personal."

TODAY'S PROMISE

"So humble yourselves before God.  Resist the
devil and he will flee from you.  Come close
to God, and God will come close to you.  Wash
your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts,
for your loyalty is divided between God and
the world."
(James 4:7,8 NLT)

THANK GOD, THANK GOD, THANK GOD.

THANK GOD, THANK GOD, THANK GOD.

This morning as I was spending some time with God
a Scripture came to my mind:

"The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me."
(Psalms 16:6 NASB)

I was reflecting back over eighty five years of life.
Plane and simple, God has been good to me.

Yes, I have had heart ache.  Lots of it, both as a young
man and as a mature adult.  And many of you know
that often heart ache can be worse than physical pain.
But God has been good to me.

I have several times in my life had constant physical
pain.  Times that I was in pain day and night.
But God has been good to me.

I have spent a lot more time in hospitals than I want
to remember.
But God has been good to me.

I have spend days not knowing whether I was going
to live or die.
But God has been good to me.

For over sixty of those years I have been [In my own
poor little way.]  living and walking with Jesus Christ.
Yet, despite the trials and hardships of life I have to
declare that through it all;

GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME.

With the Psalmist I can say:

"You will make known to me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever."
(Psalms 16:11 NASB)

"By one hour's intimate access to the throne of grace
where the Lord causes His glory to pass before the
soul that seeks Him you may acquire more true spir-
ritual knowledge and comfort than by a day's or a
week's converse with the best of men, or the most
studious perusal of many folios."

TODAY'S PROMISE

"All praise to God, the "Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is by his great mercy that we have been born again,
because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we
live with great expectation, and we have a priceless
inheritance - an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you,
pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
And through your faith God is protecting you by his power
until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be
revealed on the last day for all to see."

A LIFE OF FUTILITY

A LIFE OF FUTILITY

Have you ever felt that life was futile?
You know, a deadening routine.  Get up in the
morning.  Go to work and come home tired
and go to bed.  Get up the next morning and
go to work.  Come home tired and go to bed.
Get up the next morning...... you know the
routine.

Solomon the wisest man that ever lived on
the face of the earth observed this futility.
This man accomplish or acquired everything
most of us could ever want or dream of.
Look at what he had to say about all the
goods and accomplishments of his life.

"I said to myself, 'Come on, let's try pleasure,
Let's look for the 'good things' in life.'  But I
found that this too, was meaningless.  So I said,
Laughter is silly.  What good does it do to seek
pleasure?' After much thought, I decided to
cheer myself with wine.  And while still seeking
wisdom.  I clutched at foolishness.  In this way
I tried to experience the only happiness most
people find during their brief life in this world.
I also tried to find meaning by building
huge homes for myself and by planting beauty-
ful vineyards.  I made gardens and parks, fill-
ing them with all kinds of fruit trees.  I built
reservoirs to collect the water to irrigate my
many flourishing groves.  I bought slaves, both
men and women, and others were born into my
household.  I also owned large herds and flocks,
more than any of the kings who had lived in
Jerusalem before me.  I collected great sums
of silver and gold, the treasure of many kings.
and provinces.  I hired wonderful singers, both
men and women, and had many beautiful con-
cubines.  I had everything a man could desire!
So I became greater than all who had lived
in Jerusalem before me, and my wisdom never
failed me.  Anything I wanted, I would take,
I denied myself no pleasure.  I even found
great pleasure in hard work, a reward for all
my labors.  But as I looked at everything I
had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all
so meaningless - like chasing the wind.  There
was nothing really worthwhile anywhere."
(Ecclesiastes 2:1-11 NLT)

So, what is the use?
He ends his writing with this advice.

"That's the whole story.  Here now is my final
conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands,
for this is everyone's duty, God will judge us
for everything we do, including every secret
thing, whether good or bad."
(Ecclesiastes 12:13 NLT)

Then Jesus Christ said it another way.

"Beware! Guard against every form of greed.
Life is not measured by how much you own.
(Luke 12:15 NLT)

Also;

"And what do you benefit if you gain the whole
world but lose your own soul?  Is anything
worth more than your soul?"
(Matthew 16:26 NLT)

Then, God through the Apostle Pauls said;

"After all, we brought nothing with us
when we came into the world, and we
can't take anything with us when we
leave it."
(1 Timothy 6:7 NLT)

Of course, you can waste your life anyway
you want.  You can chase after fame, fortune
and pleasure if you want.  But, you will loose
it all.

But, as for myself I choose to chase after or
serve Jesus Christ the vary creator of the universe
so that when I depart this life I can live  with him
forever.

LAWS, LAWS AND MORE LAWS

LAWS, LAWS, AND MORE LAWS.

You and I would not even be able to count all the
laws we are supposed to abide by.  One year the
state I live in put into effect over 1,100 laws,
 statutes, ordinances, regulations, rules, mandates,
etc. in one day.  What ever day it is that new laws
go into effect in this state.  That of course was for
all the various cities, counties and the state.
And, I live in one of the more rural states.

When I moved into this state over forty five years
ago, we never even bothered to lock the house and
often did not even take the keys out of the car.

I SURE COULD NOT DO THAT NOW.

That's about how much new laws help.
And over the years I have noticed that about
all new laws accomplish is, cost tax payers
more money and limit their freedom.

Am I advocating we should be lawless instead?
No, of course not.

My point is, laws do not fix the problem -
HUMAN NATURE is the problem.  And
until we concentrate on getting ourselves
right with God and our fellow man, things
will only get worse.

Laws simple do not fix it, even when it comes
to pleasing God.  God gave us some laws to
help us see where we fail.  But even His laws
do not put us right with Him.

"Yet we know that a person is made right
with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not
by obeying the law.  And we have believed
in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made
right with God because of our faith in
Christ, not because we have obey the law.
For no one will ever be made right with God
by obeying the law."
(Galatians 2:16 NLT)
