TODAY'S QUOTE

"The prevailing idea seems to be, that I come to God
and ask Him for something that I want, and that I
expect Him to give me that which I have asked.  But
this is a most dishonoring and degrading concept-
ion.  The popular belief reduces God to a servant,
our servant: doing our bidding, performing our
pleasure, granting our desires.  No, prayer is a com-
ing to god, telling Him my need, committing my
way unto the Lord, and leaving Him to deal with it
as seemeth Him best."

"The Gateway to Christianity is not through an
intricate labyrinth of dogma, but by a simple
belief in the person of Christ."

SO YOU BELIEVE

"You believe that there is one God.

You do well.
Even the demons believe -
and tremble!
(James 2:19 NKMV)

You believe in God.
Big deal.
The demons believe in God;
because they have had first had experience
with God - and they know where they are
going.

 THEY TREMBLE.

But have you had an experience with God?
First hand personal experience?
Do you really know him?

The one who holds your destiny in his hands said;

"Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless one is born of water and the Spirit,
he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh,
and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
"Do not marvel that I said to you,
'You must be born again.'"
(John3:5-7 NKJV)

CHURCH OF THE WINO

Article of Faith.

"Thou shalt drink much wine."

Scripture substantiation

"Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish,
and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
Let him drink, and forget his poverty,
and remember his misery no more"
(Proverbs 31:6,7 KJV)

"Drink no longer water,
but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake
and thine often infirmities."
(1 Timothy 5:23 KJV)

"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do,
do it with thy might; ..."
(Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV)

Therefore,
"Thou shalt drink much wine."

ABSURD
You say.
Yes it is.

However it is no more absurd than several of the
most popular doctrines in Christendom.

At least one extremely popular doctrine cannot be found
in the Scriptures at all.
That is,
unless you pull the Scriptures you want out of context,
then put them in the order you want.  And like several of
the other doctrines, totally ignore those Scriptures that do not suit you.

Are the things I believe about God and the Scriptures
something that mankind has concocted and taught me?

Or,
something that I believe because I have found it
taught in the Scriptures -ALL OF THE SCRIPTURES?
