TODAY'S PROMISE

"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me,
for the LORD has anointed me to bring good
news to the poor.  He has sent me to comfort the
brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives
will be released and prisoners will be freed.  He
has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time
of the LORD'S favor has come, and with it, the
day of God's anger against their enemies."
(Isaiah 61:1,2 NLT).

TODAY'S PROMISE

"Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself
and God our Father, who loved us and by
his grace gave us eternal comfort and a
wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen
you in every good thing you do and say."
(2 Thessalonians 2:16,17 NLT)

HOPE FOR A BROKEN HEART

Most of us who have lived any length of time
at all have endured a broken heart, or at least
great sorry and /or regret.  Some times; time or
a change in circumstances helps to heal.  But,
not always.

But what can a person do when they hurt way
down deep where nobody else can see or reach
or help?

Over a very long life with numbers of great hurts,
sorrows and regrets I have learned the source of
healing for the broken heart.

No it is not something I have discovered or some
new technique or super food.  But going to the
one who made your heart to start with - JESUS
CHRIST.

Many of us know that Jesus Christ came to
earth to die as a sacrifice for our sins.  But
we do not always know all he came to do
for us.

When thinking on these things one time God
impressed on my mind to look at the prophecy
given about the purpose of the coming of Jesus
Christ to start with.

Notice the second item.

"The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me,
for the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor.
He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted
and to proclaim the captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.
He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the LORD'S favor
has come,
and with it, the day of God's anger
against their enemies."
(Isaiah 61:1,2 NLT)

Did you see that?

"He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted..."

Jesus himself tells us that God knows the very
number of the hairs of our head.  He cares more
about me than I care about myself.

You can see why over the years I have gone to
Him with hundreds of small insignificant, AND
HUGE, problems.  Because He came to comfort
my broken heart.

"Give all your worries and cares to God,
for he cares about you."
(1 Peter 5:7 NLT)

TAKE THAT BROKEN HEART TO GOD
AND TELL HIM ALL ABOUT IT.

TODAY'S QUOTE

"Down through the centuries in times of trouble,
temptation, trial, bereavement, and crisis, God has
brought courage to the hearts of those who love
Him.  The Bible is crowded with assurances of
God's help and comfort in every kind of trouble
which might cause fears to arise in the human heart.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY

"Happy is the one who reads this book,
and happy are those who listen to the
words of the prophetic message and
obey what is written in this book!
For the time is near when all these
things will happen."
(Revelation 1:3 GNT)

 I know.  I know.  I know.
The passage of Scripture quoted above specifically
applies to the book of Revelation.  Or the last book
in The Book.

However, over many, many years I have found the
above quote to be true of the entire or whole book,
that is, the HOLY BIBLE.

It is through the Bible that I have found a joy that
comes from God.  Joy over the blessings and help
I need presently.  And joy over the blessings and
rewards that God has for me in the future.

I am happy over the peace that the Bible brings me.
In the midst of turmoil, anxiety and doubt, this book
gives me the peace about the whole thing that I need.

When life gets tough for me.  When sorry tears at the
very depths of my being.  This book, the HOLY BIBLE,
gives me a comfort that no human being can,

And, it is the only book in the world that can and does
give me the direction I need for my life.  How to live
in a way that is pleasing to God.  Yes, sometimes it
whips me around when I do not live the way I am
suppose to.  And God knows how to get my attention
and yours too if you will permit him to.

Spend some time in the HOLY BIBLE.  Let it talk to
you.  You will be glad you did, and you can be happy,
happy, happy.

"The longer you read the Bible,
the more you will like it;
it will grow sweeter and sweeter;
and the more you get into the spirit of it,
the more you will get into the spirit of Christ."
-Romanine.

WHY CHRIST CAME.

"The Sovereign LORD has
filled me with his Spirit.
He has chosen me and sent me
to bring good news to the poor,
To heal the broken-hearted,
to announce release to captives
and freedom to those in prison.
He has sent me to proclaim
That the time has come
When the LORD will save
his people
And defeat their enemies.
He has sent me to comfort
all who mourn,
To give to those who mourn in Zion
Joy and gladness instead of grief,
A song of praise instead of sorrow...."
(Isaiah 61:1-3 GNT)

THE LORD OUR COMFORT

"I, even I, am he that comforts you;
who are you, that you should be afraid of a man
that shall die, and of the son of man which
will be made as grass;
And forget the LORD your maker,
that has stretched out the heavens, and
laid the foundations of the earth;
and feared continually every day because
of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy?"
(Isaiah 51:12,13 AKJV)

IN NEED OF ENCOURAGEMENT

You guessed it. Motorcycles again.
I knew that both of these motorcycles had problems. And in that case it meant that I had problems. However the day the one above was brought in it really hit me. Shortly after the one above came in, we found out the magnitude of the problem in the one below. It's problem meant that I was going to have to pull the engine again and take it totally apart. And at that moment there were eight motorcycles on the place. (Only three are mine.) and five of them have problems.
This coupled with a lot of other work this old man wants to get done soon overwhelmed me.
I was discouraged. Real discouraged.
The next morning while praying about it I reminded the Lord that he is the source of my encouragement.
"And may God, the source of patience and encouragement,"-Romans 15:5 (TEV)
And that if he was my encouragement I needed help.
While in prayer he brought the scripture to mind, "Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light." -Matthew 11:28-30 (TEV)
And in that very moment he lifted the burden. PRAISE GOD.
About and hour latter in one of my devotional periods the following verse just happened to be there, "So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings." -Matthew 6:34 (TEV)
GOD IS THE SOURCE OF MY ENCOURAGEMENT.
