FUTILITY

This is a picture of futility.
It is made with corn, potatoes and other stuff.

My wife found a recipe that sounded good to her.
Sounded fine to me too.  That is, if she made it.
She started on it the other day.  It was plain old
every day had work.  Husking the corn.  Then cutting
the corn off the cob.  Pealing and cutting up the potatoes,
cooking it for about a day and a half, etc, etc, etc.
In fact, it was so much work she decided she would
never make it again - no matter how it tasted.

It finished up this after noon.  After tasting it -
she threw the recipe away.  I ate a bowl full.
Yes, she did the right thing when she threw the
recipe away.

All the hard work for nothing.  Futility.

I have no idea how much money and time I have
wasted on cars, motorcycles, tools, cameras and other
toys.  All of it was futility.

Years ago I heard a saying that went something like this:

"Only one life it will soon be past,
only what's done for Christ will
last."

How true.  How true.
So much that I have done over my lifetime was wasted -
futile.  Some day I am going to stand before God and
give an account of my life.  With God's help I want to
make what is left of life count for him.

WARNING

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

BECAUSE

A.  The "Establishment" does not want you to know these facts.
To know them will put you in disfavor with the world system.

B.  You will be held accountable for these facts.  The time is
coming that  you will have to give account for your use or
misuse of them.

FACT NO. 1
"It is certain that all men die one time.  And, the judgment
day comes after death."

FACT NO. 2
"everone has sinned and is far away from God's glory."

FACT NO. 3
"The pay you get for sinning is death."

"And I saw a great white throne and the One who was
sitting on it.  The earth and the sky ran away from His
face, but they could not find any place to hide.  I saw dead
people ---important and unimportant.  They were standing
in front of the throne.  Books were opened.  And another
book -- the Book of Life -- was opened.  The dead were
judged from the things which had been written in the books,
according to the way they had lived.  The ocean yielded
the dead people who were in it.  Death and Hades
yielded the dead people who were in them.  Each person
was judged by the way he had lived.  Death and Hades [Hell]
were thrown into the lake of fire. (The second death is the
same thing as the lake of fire.)  If someone's name was
not found in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the lake
of fire."

FACT NO. 4
"but God's gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord."

FACT NO. 5
"God loved the people of the world so much that He gave
up His only Son.  Every person who commits himself to
Jesus will not her destroyed.  Instead, that person will have
eternal life.

FACT NO. 6
"While we were still helpless and ungodly, Christ died for us--
at exactly the right time.  It is rare when someone dies for
another person --even for a good person.  However, some do
dare to die for a good man.  But God reasures us of His love
for us in this way: 'While we were still sinners, Christ died
for us.!"

FACT NO. 7
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way and the truth and the life!
The only way anyone can come to the Father is through me!"

FACT NO. 8
"If you confess with your mouth that 'Jesus is Lord' and if
you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from death,
you will be saved.  To become right with God a person believes
with his heart.  Declaring it openly, that person comes into
salvation."

IT'S ALL JUST TALK

(All images courtesy of:www.Pixabay.com)

You hear them too.
Friends, relatives or neighbors who are constantly telling
you what they are going to do - but it never happens.  It is
just so much talk.  You have heard it so many times that
you could recite it just as well as they do.

And even more in the political realm.
ALL the politicians are telling you what they are going
to do for you.  How they are going to clean up corruption
or bad situtions and so forth.  But it never happens.  The
only thing that happens is that you lose more of your
freedoms and your taxes increase.

Our words do us no good if they are not backed
up by action.  St. James when talking about faith
said what could just as well apply to words we talk.

"My friends, what good is it for one of you to
say that you have faith if your actions do not
prove it? ...... So it is with faith: if it is alone
and includes no actions, then it is dead."
(James 2:14,17 GNT)

Talk is cheap.  Or is it.

Consider this.  One day both you and I are going to
stand before the God who created us - whether we
like it or not. Then we are going to give an account of
our lives.  Every bit of it.

The one who created the heavens and the earth, and gives you life it's self said,

"You can be sure that on the Judgment Day
you will have to give account of every useless
word you have ever spoken.  Your words will
be used to judge you - to declare you either
innocent or guilty."
(Matthew 12:36,37 GNT)

All of that cheap talk may end up coming
at a very high price.

"Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry"
(James 1:19 GNT)

Solomon the wisest man who ever lived
gave this advice,

"Think before you speak, and don't
make any rash promises to God.  He
is in heaven and your are on earth,
so don't say any more than you have to."
(Ecclesiastes 5:2 GNT)

Someone said,
"Wisdom has two parts:
1.  Having a lot to say.
2. Not saying it.

Rochefoucauld said,
"As it is the characteristic of great
wits to say much in few words, so
it is of small wits to talk much and
say nothing."
