LIFE SUCKS

This is the way your life is going
to be, until you put Jesus Christ
                                      in control of it.

"As the saying goes:  He who thinks of many things
thinks of nothing and accomplishes no good.  How
much more must prayer possess the heart exclusively
and completely if it is to be a good prayer."

ANXIETY CURE

If you are a living breathing human, you have problems.
Life is filled with problems that in time can become over
bearing.  Then we become anxious and the anxiety can
nearly kill us.

So what do we do?

Consider what "a man after God's own heart" did, David.
David was not yet king.  In fact he was fleeing for his life
and living as a refuge in a neighboring country.  He and
his men had been off to war and returning home found their
families and possessions taken and the town burned to the
ground.

In their grief even his own men were beginning to talk
about killing David.  What would you do in a situation
like that?  What did David do?

"But David strengthened himself in the Lord his
God." (1 Samuel 30:6 NASB0  or as the KJV says'
"encouraged".   Take your choice.

God's word to us for today is:

"Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty
hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper
time, casting all your anxiety on Him,
because He cares for you."
(1 Peter 5:6,7 NASB)

Got that?
God wants us to cry on his shoulder.

HA HA HA HA HA

HA HA HA HA.

Pardon me.
But I have just been sitting here thinking about the
absurdity of birds being the product of evolution.

Did they start out as slime which become mud, which
become a worm or snail or who knows what.  Then
what ever that was decided it wanted to fly.  And to
fly it knew that it would need wings.  So it took a
few million years to develop wings.

But, oh, oh.  Wings are not enough.  Now it needs feathers.
And after a few million more years it developed feathers.
Let's try again.

Oops.
No matter how hard I try, I still can't fly.

Well, walking does work.  But what is the next step to fly?

"The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God."
(Psalms 14:1 NASB)

BROKEN FOR A PUROSE

"Cowboys" (and girls)  tell me that a horse has to
be "broken" to be any good.  I am inclined to believe
that.

The only horse I ever owned we bought for the kids.
Apparently the horse was not broken for kids or for
me.  When I got rid of it, my hope was that it went
to the glue factory.  I just wanted it out of here.   That
is why ultimately I went back to motorcycles.  They
do not have a mind of their own.

But the world is full of a lot more problems than just
problem horses.  You know by now that life is full
of problems, trials and tests.  God allows these for a
number of reasons.  They can test our faith, strengthen
our faith or change the coarse of our life etc.  But
there is at least one more purpose that God has had
to use, with myself anyway.

Just as a horse has to be broken to submit to the
will of it's owner.  We have to be "broken" to be
obedient to God.  Not only do the Scriptures tell
us that we cannot serve both God and money.
But they teach us that we cannot serve ourself
and God.

I do not know how many times I have faced
an insurmountable problem because God was
trying to get my attention and I needed to be
"broken" before God so that he could use me.

Consider the possibility that huge problem or
mess of problems in your life might be a loving
God trying to get your attention to keep you from
destroying yourself.

"Submit therefore to God.  Resist the devil
and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God
and He will draw near to you..."
(James 4:7,8a NASB)

HOW TO BE BLESSED

Images courtesy of: www.Pixabay.com

The world has never been in such a time of stress
and turmoil.  And if you think it is bad now, just
wait.  It is going to get worse, much worse.
How do I know?  God said so.

If you do not know what the Holy Bible is teaching,
you do not even know what is going on.  But it is all
in there.

The direction the world is going now is "scary"
and getting  "scarier".  But the beauty of it is that
God not only tells us what is happening now and
what is going to happen - but how to be ready for
it with his blessing.

Consider this verse:
"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear
the words of the prophecy, and heed the
things which are written in it; for the time
is near."
(Revelation 1:3 NAST)

This verse actually applies to what we call the
book of Revelation.  It is the only book with
this promise.  Also it is the "scariest" book in
the Bible.  But God does truly bless those who
read it and "heed" it.

The book is full of facts and symbolism.  But
if we "heed" or "obey" what we read this book
is a real comfort because it warns us, directs us,
telling that all that is happening is under God's
control.  Plus promises us a fantastic future if
we will but submit and listen to God's word.

Again:
"Happy is the one who reads this book,
and happy are those who listen to the
words of this prophetic message and
obey what is written in this book!  For
the time is near when all these things
will happen."
(Revelation 1:3 GNT)

To be blessed, read it.

TODAY'S QUOTE

"I've discovered it is not sufficient simply to try to
take time for quietness but that I must, with all diligence,
make time.  Whatever keeps me from pray, solitude,
and the Bible, however good it appears, is my enemy
if I am to be God's devoted friend and follower."

YOUR RESURRECTION

We have just finished celebrating the resurrection of
Christ.  He not only died for us, but after three days
in the tomb he came back to life - or was resurrected -
NEVER TO DIE AGAIN.

Did you know that after you die, you too will be
resurrected.  The Scriptures clearly teach us:
"... that there shall certainly be a resurrection
of both the righteous and the wicked."
(Acts 24:15 NASB)

They further teach us that it consists of a first and
a second resurrection.  The first one is the resurrection
of the righteous.  These are the people who are in a
relationship with Jesus Christ.  And they will be raised
from the dead to live for ever and ever with Jesus Christ.
[The rapture and judgement are not a part of our discussion
right now.]

And the second resurrection is the one for the wicked.
But instead of living for ever with God, they will be
given an eternal death sentence away from the presence
of God in a place of eternal torment.

My point is this.
Christ's tomb is empty because he was raised to life
so that we to can be raised to life with him at our
resurrection if we have a relationship with Christ.

I can rejoice over Christ's resurrection making possible
my coming resurrection after this old body dies someday.
