MAP OF THE FUTURE

I just love this photo.  This kid is showing us the
proper way to do it.  He is not to the part I want
to draw to your attention, but he will get there.

I do no know about you, but I want to know what
the future holds so I can prepare the best I can for
it.  That is one of the reasons that the last book in
the Bible, the book of Revelation has become such
a favorite of mine.

Notice the very starting sentence of the book;

"This is a revelation from Jesus Christ,
which God gave him to show his servants
the events that must soon take place.
(Chapter 1 verse 1 NLT)

I do not know what is coming - BUT GOD DOES.
I know that the book of Revelation is filled with
imagery and symbolism.  It is easy to get lost trying
to figure it all out.  BUT, there is enough in plain old
English, Spanish, French, or what ever, to scare you to
death.  But if you will pay attention, it will help you
get ready for what is coming.

One other point about the book of Revelation.  It
has a promise right at the start that is true.

"God blesses the one who reads the words of
this prophecy to the church and he blesses all
who listen to its message and obey what it says,
for the time is near."
(Chapter one verse 3 NLT)

I have to testify that this is true.  Perhaps I was
confused from reading it the first few times.  But
I have found that reading it and trying to pay attention
to it truly is satisfying and yes comforting to me.  It
shows me how it is all going to work out, and I'm on
the winning side because with all my frailties I'm
walking with God the best I can.

DECEIVING PROPHETS

"My people are deceived by prophets who promise peace to
those who pay them, but threaten war for those who don't.
To these prophets the LORD says, 'Prophets, your day is
almost over; the sun is going down on you.  Because you
mislead my people, you will have no more prophetic visions,
and you will not be able to predict anything.'  Those who
predict the future will be disgraced by their failure.  They
will all be humiliated because God does not answer them."
(Micah 3:5-7 TEV)

TODAY'S PROMISE

"You, LORD,
are all I have,
and you give me all I need;
my future is in your hands."
(Psalms 16:5 GNB)

"The promises of the Lord can be trusted;
they are as genuine as silver refined
seven times in the furnace."
(Psalms 12:6 GNB)

1. Meditate on God's Promises.
2. Plead the Promises at the throne of Grace.
3. Act in Faith that God Will Perform His Promises.

WHICH WAY AM I LOOKING?

Just like us old kids, they are looking back.
You know how it is around us old people.
We all look back into the past. The great things we did when we were younger
and life was so much better than now.
But now we are too old to do anything.
It is never encouraging to be around people who are living in the past.
For myself, regardless of what stage of life, the most depressing times have been
when I'm not looking forward to something.
God gave me as word of encouragement this morning.
He (God) was speaking to the people of Israel through the prophet Isaiah.
"But the Lord says,
'Do not cling to events of the past
or dwell on what happened long ago.
Watch for the new thing I
am going to do....."
-Isaiah 43:18 (GNB)

Other places God tells us to remember what he has done for us.
Then we can thank him for it. And, realize that he can and will help us again.
But God does not want us to dwell in the past,
but take him by the hand and move on into the future,
regardless of the situation we are in now.
I'm looking forward to what God is going to do
for me next.
