TODAY'S PROMISE

"Don't you realize that in a race
everyone runs, but only one person
gets the prize?  So run to win!  All
athletes are disciplined in their training.
They do it to win a prize that will fade
away, but we do it for an eternal prize."
( 1 Corinthians 9:24,25 NLT)

HELP!

One time the nation of Israel was at war and in trouble.
They were fighting against the Hagrites, Jeturites,
Naphishites and Nodabites and in need of God's help.
In the middle of the battle we find this gem.

"They cried out to God during the battle,
and he answered their prayer because
they trusted him."
(1 Chronicles 5:20 NLT)

God of course answered their prayer and not only
gave them the battle, but huge amounts of plunder.

My point is this.
We have battles to fight too; DAILY.
It may not be with swords and bows etc., but they
are still real battles for us.

Personally I have had a number of battles in my
work today.  But with each one that I called out to
God for help - he helped me overcome the problem.

"My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth!
He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over  you'll
not slumber."
(Psalms 121:2,3 NLT)

DON'T FIGHT YOUR BATTLES ALONE.

The very creator of the universe asks us to
bring our problems to HIM.
Take it to Jesus.

He gave his one and only Son, so that

TODAY'S PROMISE

“For a child is born to us, a son is given

to us, The government will rest on his

shoulders.  And he will be called: Wonderful

Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,

Prince of Peace.  His government and its

peace will never end.  He will rule with

fairness and justice from the throne of his

ancestor David for all eternity.

THE MAKING OF A WINNER

THE MAKING OF A WINNER

It is natural for most people to want to be a winner
in one way or another.  There are ways that most of
us could care less about whether we win or lose.
But how can I be a winner in life it's self?
How can I have God's blessing on all I do?

One of the winners in God's book was King David.
God Himself said of David,

"But God removed Saul and replaced him with
David, a man about whom God said, ' I have
found David son of Jesse, a man after my own
heart.  He will do everything I want him to do."
(Acts 13:22 NLT)

And,
"David continued to succeed in everything he
did, for the LORD was with him."
(1 Samuel 18:14 NLT).

Now there is where I want to be.
But how?

The last few days I have been reading in 1st and
2nd Samuel.  In there is the key as to why David
always had God's help.

Everything, David did, he first asked God what he
wanted him to do.  It did not matter whether it was
do you want me to go to battle, or, where do you want
me to live, or whatever.  It was always asking God what
he was to do.  It was to ask for God's direction in every
facet of life.

Yes, we all know that David failed miserably at one
point in his life.  But we also know that he did not
seek the will of God in the matter.

Much of our problem today is that we make up our
mind as to what we want to do.  Then, we seek God's
blessing on it.  That is going about it backward.

God help me to seek your will on EVERY matter of
my life.

TODAY'S PROMISE

  •

God also bound himself with

an oath, so that those who

received the promise could be

perfectly sure that he would

never change his mind.  So

God has given both his promise

and his oath.  These two things

are unchangeable because it is

impossible for God to lie. There-

fore, we who have fled to him

for refuge can have great

confidence as we hold to the

hope that lies before us.”

GOD'S WORD IS TRUE

"Give, and you will receive.  Your gift
will return to you in full - pressed down,
shaken together to make room for more,
running over and poured into your lap.
The amount you give will determine the
amount you get back."
(Luke 8:38 LNT)

I just want to share the truth of this in a minor
way with you.  God has been so good to me and
I see his hand in so many things that others
would only consider coincidence.

I am a very old man retired and living on social
security.  But, God has been so good to me.  I
should have died about seven years ago - BUT
GOD - restored me to good health for an old
man.  He has given me a comfortable home to
live in and more than enough to eat.

In these circumstances when looking around
at the multitudes of poor and hurting people
it almost makes me feel guilty.  Why should I
have it so well and they not.  So I felt that I should
try and share more with the poor.

I of course have to watch my money closely but
began to feel the need of helping in a certain
manner to a certain situation.  I had made up my
mind to give a certain amount to the need.

However, when it came time to donate to the need
I felt that God would have me double the amount.
Could I give that much and still pay my expenses?
I have learned in well over eighty years of living
that if God encourages me to give extra to something
or other I never once regretted it.  He always made
sure it worked out O.K.  So, I doubled the amount
to the need.

A few days latter sometime near Thanksgiving I
was getting ready to leave a place where I volunteer
some work.  I happened to look down in my lunch
box and saw an envelope.  Must be a Thanksgiving
card.  It was.  But I could not slide it out of the envelope.
It had so much money stuffed in with it that I could
not slide it out.  EXACTLY TWICE THE AMOUNT
I HAD DONATED.

PRAISE GOD,
THANK YOU JESUS.

"I will thank you, LORD, among all the people.

CHANGE IT.

The last thirty five years of my working life was spent
in the automotive industry.  Over twenty five of these
were as an automotive technician, and then the rest
working in the parts department.

In all those years I learned one thing that controls
the automotive industry.  There is one over riding
principle that controls every thing.  It is summed up
in two words, "Change it.".

It is a good looking car, "Change it".
It is an ugly looking car, "Change it."
The car works well, "Change it."
The car don't work well, "Change it."
The car is easy to repair, "Change it."
The car is hard to repair, "Leave it alone."
[Sorry, just could not pass that one up.]

Now having been in retirement for over a decade
I have been messing around in the social media
world.  In this time I have used at least four
different social media platforms and a number
of websites.  Guess what?  Everyone of them has
had changes made.  I honestly do not think that
any of the changes have helped the user.  They
only get more complex and harder to use.

I am now 86 years old and every year has brought
changes in my old body  - I don't like them.

In short, I am tired of changes and most people
I know are too.

But there is good news.  There is one thing that
does not change,  JESUS CHRIST.

"Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today, and forever."
(Hebrew 13:8 NLT)

Jesus loved us and died for us, if we will accept it.
That does not change.

Jesus arose on the third day to live forever.
That does not change.

Jesus is in heaven interceding for me now.
That does not change.

Jesus's invitation to come to Him for the
forgiveness of our sins does not change.

Jesus request for us to bring out problems
to him does not change.

The whole world is in a state of constant change,
most of which is not good.

But thank God,  He does not change.
I can and do take all my problems and concerns
to Jesus who never changes.

And Jesus begs you to come to him for
comfort with your problems.

TODAY'S QUOTE

“Throughout his long life as a best-selling

author and speaker, Wesley, had he lived

today, would have been a millionaire many

times over.  Yet he diligently operated his

affairs so that he never had more than a few

dollars in his pocket.  He conducted a world-

wide ministry, yet he always said he handled

his financial affairs with such simplicity that

there would be no need of a will or executor

for his estate.

“And he was true to his word.  By the time

God called him home, friends and family

were to find Wesley had indeed quietly and

systematically give it all away to the Lord’s

work.  Nothing was left but the loose change

in his pockets.”

READ IT FOR YOURSELF

 READ IT FOR YOURSELF.

After reading and studying the Bible many years

I have learned that there is a lot of misinformation

about it.  Even a large number of honest, truthful

people hold some wrong teachings about it.

The problem seems to be not the person, preacher

or teacher.  But the fact that they took somebody

else's word for something without checking it out.

READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF.

The Apostle Paul mentions such people when

he said;

"For some men, straying from these things,

have turned aside to fruitless discussion,

wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though

they do not understand either what they are

saying or the matters about which they make

confident assertions."

(1Timothy 1:6,7 NASB)

Jesus Christ said it a different way;

"Let them alone; they are blind guides of the

blind.  And if a blind man guides a blind man,

both will fall into a pit."

(Matthew 15:14 NASB)

READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF.

If you will read the Bible for yourself you will not

need to read all those other books about the Bible.

But you will have the straight truth for yourself.

Just a personal suggestion.

If possible use a version that uses the same

language that you do.  There is nothing especially

Holy about reading the Bible in some quaint odd

language that no one uses anymore

I would further suggest that you do not read

it in a hurry.  But take it slow and easy.  Let

it talk to you.  Ask God to reveal the things

to you that he wants you to see and understand.
