TODAY'S QUOTE

"If I could turn back time and do those thirty years over
again, I would spend even more time meditating in the
Bible and less time reading other Christian books."

WATCH OUT FOR PREACHERS

In my last post I pointed out how the Apostle Paul being in
prison for Christ in Rome actually encouraged others to
share the message of Christ.

But Paul continues;

"It is true that some are preaching out of jealousy
and rivalry.  But others preach about Christ with
pure motives."
&
"Those others do not have pure motives as they
preach about Christ.  They preach with selfish
ambition, not sincerely, ..."
(Philippians 1: 15 & 17 NLT).

I thank God that I grew up among a group of people
who were hard working, honest, God fearing people -
including their preachers.   But as I lived in this old
world I learned that is not true of everyone, including
preachers.  Like those in Rome that Paul mentioned,
some today "preach with selfish ambition, not sincerely,".

Lets just say it this way.  It could be revealing to get
a look at their bank account even if they might be a
"big name preacher".

Remember, Jesus Christ himself told us in advance;

"For false messiahs and false prophets will rise
up and perform great signs and wonders so as
to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.
See, I have warned you about this ahead of time."
(Matthew 24, 25 NLT)

Another thing to consider about any preacher.
My father was one of those honest hardworking,
God fearing preachers.  He would not have done
anything in the world to mislead someone.  As we
say, "He was as honest as the day is long." and
truthful all the way.

But as time went along I have learned that some of
the things even my father had been taught were
incorrect.  Consequently, though he was teaching
with all honesty on his part.  He still was preaching
and teaching some errors.

So, what is the answer?
How do we know the truth about life, heaven and
hell and everything related to us?

I know.
I have shared this picture before.
But I love it.
That picture has the total essence
of how to get the truth.

READ THE BOOK

After reading and studying the Bible many years
I have learned that there is a lot of misinformation
about it.  Even a large number of honest, truthful
people hold some wrong teachings about it.

The problem seems to be not the person, preacher
or teacher.  But the fact that they took somebody
else's word for something without checking it out.

READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF.

The Apostle Paul mentions such people when
he said;

"For some men, straying from these things,
have turned aside to fruitless discussion,
wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though
they do not understand either what they are
saying or the matters about which they make
confident assertions."
(1Timothy 1:6,7 NASB)

Jesus Christ said it a different way;

"Let them alone; they are blind guides of the
blind.  And if a blind man guides a blind man,
both will fall into a pit."
(Matthew 15:14 NASB)

READ THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF.

If you will read the Bible for yourself you will not
need to read all those other books about the Bible.
But you will have the straight truth for yourself.

Just a personal suggestion.
If possible use a version that uses the same
language that you do.  There is nothing especially
Holy about reading the Bible in some quaint odd
language that no one uses anymore.

I would further suggest that you do not read
it in a hurry.  But take it slow and easy.  Let
it talk to you.   Ask God to reveal the things
to you that He wants you to see and understand.

"The word 'joy' is found 164 times in a concordance
of the Bible, and the word 'rejoice' is repeated 191
times.  Truly the Bible is a book of joy and gladness,
because it is a record of God's relationships with
man and of man's continuous search for communion
and fellowship."

"Sight is not faith, and hearing is not faith,
neither is feeling faith; but believing when
we neither see, hear, nor feel is faith; and
everywhere the Bible tell us our salvation
is to be by faith.  Therefore we just believe
before we feel, ad often against out feelings,
if we would honor God by our faith."

"I took up that word Love, and I do not know how
many weeks I spent in studying the passages in
which it occurs, till at last I could not help loving
people.  I had been feeding on love so long that I was
anxious to do everybody good I came in contact
with.  I got full of it.  It ran out my fingers.  You take
up the subject of love in the Bible!  You will get so
full of it that all you have to do is to open your lips,
and a flood of the Love of God flows out. "

"Down through the centuries in times of trouble,
temptation, trial, bereavement, and crisis, God has
brought courage to the hearts of those who love
Him.  The Bible is crowded with assurances of
God's help and comfort in every kind of trouble
which might cause fears to arise in the human heart.

THE REAL STUFF

Can you believe it?

When I want honey, I want honey.  I want it
to be all honey - 100% honey.  Not just  75%
honey.

You are the same way aren't you?
Or if I am eating banana pudding -
keep the lemons out.

But how about instructions for life itself???
I want the instructions to come from the manufacture
himself - not some "Know it all".

When I was an auto technician it was hard to believe
the number of people who came in with problems
all BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT READ THE
OWNER'S MANUAL.

Most of us are the same way.  The one who made you
and gives you life it's self -GOD- gave us an instruction
manual - the HOLY BIBLE.

It not only will tell you how to live, it will keep you
out of trouble and give you comfort and courage like
no other book on earth.

Grab a copy an feed out of it daily.
IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
for the better.

"I've discovered it is not sufficient simply to try to

GETTING GOD'S ATTENTION

Have you considered the many ways people attempt
to get God's attention.  Favorable attention that is.
Nothing escapes his notice.  So in that sense, every
thing gets his attention.  But we do not want his attention
in the sense of something that would "make him sick"
and want to puke.  But we want his attention in the sense
that would make him feel favorably toward us.

Some things that people do in an attempt to get God's
attention, but his very word tells us would "backfire" on
us.

Standing on the street corner praying loud long winded
prayers does not get his attention.  In fact he does not
pay any attention to them.

Giving large sums of money to the work of God does not
bring us into favorable attention with God.  We cannot buy
his favor with money.

Going through a set of rituals does not get his attention.
It might make you think you are doing something religious,
but it is a wast of your time.

Sitting in some goofy uncomfortable position and emptying
your mind so the Devil can put his thoughts in it does no good.

We could go on and on and on.  But you get the point.  What
we do does not necessarily get the attention we want from God.

What gets the attention of God?
He himself self said;

"But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit,
and who trembles at My word."
(Isaiah 66:2 NASB)

Not an overdose of "self esteem",
but:

Humility,
remorse or sorrow for wrongs,
a fearful respect for God''s word
the Holy Bible.

PROFESSIONAL CHRISTIAN STUDENTS

You have met them.  People who find it easier to
study than to work.  So they go to school as long
as they can get grants or someone to feed them.
We call them "professional students".

I must confess that in the Christian realm I along
with many others have become "professional students".
No, not for money.  But it is far easier to sit at a desk
or with other people of a like mind and study the Bible
than it is to go out and live out the Bible instructions of
service.  So we spend our spare time going to "Bible
Studies", or "Bible conferences" etc.

We use as our excuse the reference in the Old King
 James version 11 Timothy 2:15;

"Study to show thyself approved
unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth."

But stop and think a minute.  [I am sure you
can better than I can.]  The same writer in the
same version said;

"And that ye study to be quiet,"
(1 Thessalonians 4:11 KJV)

Have you ever undertaken a study or a
class in how to be quiet?  No, because that
is not what the old English meant.  The Greek
word translated "study" here meant;
"be diligent".  In other words put into practice
what you have been learning.

I love to read, study and soak up the truths of
the Bible.  But with God's help I intend to put
them more into practice.

MINISTRIES

HELP

I seem to be missing something.
I have read my Bible from cover to cover as they say.
But, I cannot find anything about:

John the Baptist ministries,
or
Jesus of Nazareth ministries,
or
Simon Peter ministries,
or
Saul of Tarsus ministries
or
etc. etc. etc

Didn't these guys know how to do it?

Or,
perhaps the Scriptures had a different out look.
Consider;

"And his gifts were that some should be apostles,
some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors
and teachers, to equip the saints for the work
of ministry, ..."
(Ephesians 4:11,12 RSV)

My friend,
every born again child of God is a minister.

Just a thought from "grandpa's ministries".

WARNING

WARNING

The prophecies the Holy Bible made have been coming
true right on schedule.   There have been literally hundreds
of the Bible's prophecies come true to date.

There is another that I read over just this morning - again.
When Jesus was on the way to the cross there were a lot
of women crying because of his coming death.   But he
said to them:

"Daughters of Jerusalem, stop weeping for Me,
but weep for yourselves and for your children.
For behold, the days are coming when they will
say, 'Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that
never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.'
Then they will begin to SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS,
'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, COVER US.'"
(Luke 23:28-30 NASB)

O.K.
What's the big deal?

Look at our attitude toward having children today.
We are right in the middle of that time frame.

The next part is explained more fully in a another
part of the Scriptures.

"Then the kings of the earth and the great men and
the commanders and the rich and the strong and
every slave and free man hid themselves in the
caves and among the rocks of the mountains;
and they said to the mountains  and to the rocks,
"Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him
who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the
Lamb; for the great day of their wrath has come,
and who is able to stand."
(Revelation 6:15-17 NASB)

The second part of that prophecy is when Christ
returns - which will be very soon - and he will
pour out the wrath of God on this old world.

ARE YOU READY?

FAKE NEWS

Images courtesy of: www.Pixabay.com

Fake news.  It is one of the big issues of the day.

One site or source I often see on Facebook I can never
trust.  It is always "Breaking News".  And usually something
that could be an encouragement.  For example:

Kim Jong Un.  The whole world would be better off
without this guy.  I read that he and most of his "top
brass" had been killed my navy seals.  But apparently
they did not do a good job of killing this guy.

So, latter I read that he had been killed in a terrible accident.
He had been given a snowmobile by Putin as a gift and ran
into a tree, or something killing him again.

But, it seems that Kim Jong Un does not know that he
is supposed to be dead.

But fake news is not something new.  Christ himself told
us:
"For false Christs and false prophets will arise
and will show great signs and wonders, so as to
mislead, if possible, even the elect"
(Matthew 24:24 NASB)

Hey!
That is today.

I know.  You say there are people you can trust.
That is true.  And there have been many people
in my life time that I could trust.  But, sometimes
they have been fed false or fake information.  So,
they faithfully feed you the false information.

However,
there is one thing you can trust - the HOLY BIBLE

Pick one up and you can read tomorrows news.
It will tell you what is going to happen - and it
will happen.  It will tell you what is going to
happen to you - and it will.

SCRABBLE BOARD THEOLOGY

Several of the most popular doctrines or teachings
in the "Christian" world today were arrived at by
"scrabble board theology".

They take a hand full of letters, or verses, and arrange
them in the order they want and -BEHOLD - a doctrine
that is very pleasing to themselves and every one else.

Unfortunately, just because these "proof texts" come
out of the Bible, it does not make it a Bible truth.

How do we know what is right then?
I am glad you ask that question.  It's very simple.  Pull the
old Berean trick on them.  It has worked for several thousand
years.

"Now these were more noble-minded than those in
Thessalonica, for they receive the word with great
eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see
whether these things were so."
(Acts 17:11 NASB)

There you have it.  Just three simple steps.
1.  Pick up your Bible and put it in your hands.
2. Read it.
3.  Leave it in the order God put it.
