HOW TO MAKE A FOOL OF YOURSELF

More wisdom from the wisest man that
ever lived - king Solomon.

"As you enter the house of God, keep your
ears open and your mouth shut.  It is evil to
make mindless offerings to God.  Don't make
rash promises, and don't be hasty in bringing
matters before God.  After all, God is in heaven
and you are here on earth.  So let your words
be few.
Too much activity gives you restless dreams;
too many words make you a fool. "
(Ecclesiastes 5:1 -3 NLT)

Solomon carries it even  further in his book
of Proverbs;

"Too much talk leads to sin.
Be sensible and keep your mouth shut."
(Proverbs 10:19 NLT)

So, Solomon's advise is;

"Even fools are thought wise when they
keep silent; with their mouths shut,
they seem intelligent."
(Proverbs 17:28 NLT).

But more importantly than even Solomon
is God's warning about the time everyone
of us is going to stand before him in judgment.

"And I tell you this, you must give an account
on judgment day for every idle word you speak.
The words you say will either acquit you or
condemn you."
(Matthew 12:36,37 NLT).

FUTILITY OF PLEASURE AND POSSESSIONS

I have been considering the thinking of the
wisest man that ever lived, king Solomon, in
his writings in the book of Ecclesiastes.

In chapter two he decides to test pleasure and
possessions and their value in life.  With
pleasure he ends up saying; "What does it
accomplish?"

Then he turns to possessions.
Solomon built for himself houses, vineyards,
gardens, ponds and collected silver and gold.
Then he said;
"Thus I considered all my activities which
my hands had done and the labor which I
had exerted, and behold all was vanity and
striving after wind and there was no profit
under the sun." (Ecclesiastes 2:11 NASB)

We can see the proof of this same thing in
our own day.  Over the years I have been
amazed at how many wealthy famous people
end up killing themselves.  Were was the
happiness that was supposed to be there?

Hey guys, catch this one.
"I provided for myself male and female
singers and the pleasures of men - many
concubines." (2:11)
What were many concubines to Solomon?
"He had seven hundred wives, princesses,
and three hundred concubines, and his
wives turned his heart away."
(1 Kings 11:4 NASB)

That is one thousand women for just one
man.  A whole town of women for him to
take his pick of.
But they turned his heart away from God
to his own hurt.

No wonder Solomon was able to say;
"It is better to live in a desert land
Than with a contentious and vexing
woman." (Proverbs 21:19 NASB)
and;
"It is better to live in a corner of the roof
Than in a house shared with a contentious
woman." (Proverbs 25:24 NASB)

I do not know about you,
but I think I can learn something from this.

LEARNING FROM POLITICIANS

Image courtesy of: www.Pixabay.com

In this day and age it seems inconceivable, but you can
learn something from politicians.  Well, that is, what not
to do.

Like myself you have noticed that some of them (Most of
them.) say something stupid every time they open their
mouth.  Every time they say something, something dumb
comes out and they appear even more ignorant than the time
before.  Talk about a low I.Q.  Some of them appear to not
even have an I.Q. at all.

What is the answer?
God gave it a long time ago through the wisest man that ever
lived.

A side note.
That wise man "Solomon" was not born "smart"  He did not
have an exceptional I.Q. or training.  His only "smart" thing
was to know that he was not "smart".  So he ask God for the
wisdom he needed, and God gave it to him in abundance.

The smart thing that Solomon said was;

"Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent;
with their mouths shut,
they seem intelligent."
(Proverbs 17:28 NLT)

I am trying to learn that too.
