THE GUIDE

GOD'S GUIDANCE.

"The peace that Christ gives is to guide you in the decisions you make;
for it is to this peace that God has called you together in the one body. And be thankful."
-Colossians 3:15 (GNB)

When will I ever learn?

Many are the times that I wanted and needed God to guide me.
And many are the times when I have started in a direction that seemed correct and felt compelled to take.  Even after prayer.

And many are the times that I have wasted; time, money and energy as a result.  Because I have not waited for the peace of God to guide me about the matter.

God is the source of peace.
See Romans 15:33 and 16:20 as an example.

Jesus gives us peace by being united with him.
See John 16:33.
Perhaps that is the problem.  I have been too much on my own.

"And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus."
-Philippians 4:7 (GNB)

ARE YOU POOR?

 Are you poor?

I know.  I know.  Even those of us who have more than enough consider ourselves poor
because we have less than someone else.

I have read the Bible over many times.  One thing stands out all through the Bible.
God has a special concern for the poor.
Perhaps that is why he allowed so many of them.

If we will allow our "need" to cause us to look to God.
Then we can be a way ahead of the rich in this life and especially life to come.

Consider two scripture portions.
"And now, you rich people, listen to me!
Weep and wail over the miseries that are coming upon you!
Your riches have rotted away, and your clothes have been eaten by moths.
Your gold and silver are covered with rust,
and this rust will be a witness against you and will eat up your flesh like fire.
You have piled up riches in these last days."
-James 5:1-3 (GNB)

But there is more.
"Listen, my dear friends!
God chose the poor people of this world to be rich in faith
and to possess the kingdom
which he promised to those who love him."
-James 2:5 (GNB)

Keep your riches.
Give me Jesus.

ARE YOU CONNECTED?

Yes, that is my razor.  And yes, I'm sorry about it too.

As you can see, the cord is separate from the razor.  The result is that it does not stay plugged in good.  Constantly I am having to push the cord back up tight while I am shaving.  That makes shaving a two handed job sometimes.  Simply because I am disconnected from the power source.

I have just come through one of those dry spells.  You know.  Things just don't seem right.  There is not the happiness and contentment there should be.  The way seems "fuzzy".

God in his mercy let me see why.  I have been shifting away from my power source - God.  I have let too much of the concerns of life consume my time and efforts.

Jesus said,
"Remain united to me, and I will remain united to you.  A branch cannot bear fruit by itself; it can do so only if it remains in the vine.  In the same way you cannot bear fruit unless you remain in me."
-John 15:4 (GNB)

The razor works better this way.  And praise God, we work better when we remain united (Plugged in) to Christ.

FATHER

Proud of the great granddaughter, of course.  But that is not the reason for this post.

Jordin, that's the girl above, wanted a bunny.  Now if Jordin want's a bunny, grandpa want's her to have a bunny.  And grandpa will move heaven and earth to get her a bunny.   [Providing it does not cost more than about $50.00.  That one was $7.00 plus gas and time.]

But in this little episode God drew something to my attention.    If we have turned to God and been born again.  We have a "Father" in heaven who loves us a whole lot more than my love for a granddaughter.

Now you may not want a bunny.

But remember, Jesus said,
"...I am telling you the truth: the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name."
-John 16:23 (GNB)

WHERE?

"Where are the men who have been with God,
who have tarried in His presence until they have heard His Word,
and then descended from the mount with the Glory of God
radiating from their faces
and the power of God reverberating from their hearts?"

PROMISES

"Every promise in the book is mine",
is an expression I use to hear regarding the Bible.
I don't hear it much anymore. Perhaps because people
do not trust God any more.
But consider.
All the promises God made are not just about pie in the sky when we die.
Some of God's promises are very stern warnings about what he will do to us if,
we don't straighten up and fly right.
And we don't want the consequences of them.
Strange. I have never hear anyone claim one of these promises.
Maybe we need to spend more time in the Bible
reading ALL of God's promises.
Then adjusting to his word so only the good
promises will apply to us.

PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE

Why is she smiling?
New glasses. She can see more clearly now.
She told me so.
And, she had just been reading her Bible.
That is where guidance comes from.
"Your word is a lamp to guide me
and a light for my path."
-Psalms 119:105 (GNV)
Have you been in your Bible today
so you can see life's way more clearly?????
